Coastal trade should contribute more to the GDP and this is the main aim of the Modi Sagar Mala Yojana. In the past years, India was not very active in the sea trade. This was due to the lack of connectivity and the general coastal trade facilities. This is causing a loss to the economy of the country. Not only GDP, but the overall growth of the country is at a pause.  The proper implementation of this government program would result in effective utilization of the coastline. And in future this is going to be one of our biggest assets.

Also known as the Blue Revolution, this is one of the most important projects that would facilitate the growth in the GDP of the country. As per the details of government program, a total of 1200 ports would be a part of the project. The ports include new as well as existing ones. Along with this, 189 lighthouses would be set up so as to monitor the trade activities. This would help in ensuring that no amount of abnormalities or illegal activities take place. Also officials follow the laws of government while doing the work. When proper laws are followed, no officials would ignore their work. And hence, proper tracking of trade activities would happen.

And in the coming years, Indian people can expect further additions to the Modi Sagar Mala Yojna. This scheme would provide to be beneficial for traders. It will also affect general public in the long run.

Setting up the Coastal Economic Zones

Tourism and trade business would boost up with effective implementation of this program. However, the government needs to create coastal economic zones. Coastal economic zones, i.e. CEZs would serve as special sea trade zones. Further, government needs to develop these CEZs keeping in mind the modern day trade needs.  This would help in efficient trades at these places and thus attracts many investments from all around the world. Government would provide special funds for the setting up of coastal economic zones.

Effortless connectivity

One of the major problems India has to deal with is the lack of internal connectivity. This means that there is no interconnection between the Indian ports themselves. This creates a problem when traders want to accommodate bigger ships. The Modi Sagar Mala Yojana scheme aims at solving these problems. Government would make special arrangements to dock the bigger ships. It would also provide various commodities that are not provided currently. Government is also looking to transport the commodities through waterways.

This government program would play an effective role in attracting foreign investments. And thus contribute to the country’s growth and development stats. Moreover, this Modi Sagar Mala Yojana scheme would make India emerge as a leader in the water trade in the coming years.
